Employee development

Cameco offers ongoing education and training opportunities and works to support the learning needs of our employees.

All of our salaried employees receive two formal performance and career development reviews each year, and we are working with our unionized sites to develop regular performance and career development reviews for employees covered by our collective bargaining agreements as well.

Our leadership programs educate, develop and support interested employees, from entry to executive level, who have the skills and desire to take more of a leadership role in the corporation.

We also provide financial assistance to employees who take the initiative to further their education by enrolling in a course or completing a diploma or degree.

We consistently rank as one of Canada's top employers overall, for diversity and for employees over 40.

Making Cameco work for northerners

For over a decade, Cameco has partnered with a local college to deliver workplace education at three of our northern Saskatchewan operations. The college offers tutorial support to apprentices and for technical training and trade exam preparation, as well as:

  • literacy tutoring (reading, writing and math)
  • help with GED (general educational development) preparation
  • help with college, technical institute or university courses
  • computer software training

Cameco also offers a seven-day in, seven-day out work schedule that allows employees from northern communities to balance time at the job site with time at home – making it possible for team members who want to maintain a traditional lifestyle to do so.
