Cameco was proud to be the presenting sponsor for the inaugural #CNAWest conference, which brought 500 delegates to our hometown this week. Canada is the second largest uranium producer in the world - all of which is mined in Saskatchewan, making our province essential to the global nuclear industry. This week's conference featured an opening keynote from Scott Moe, who reiterated the government's commitment to bring nuclear power to Saskatchewan.

On the second day of #CNAWest, Cameco's Vice-President of Mining Operations Dale Clark took part in a panel discussion examining the opportunities for Western Canada to develop a full-lifecycle nuclear industry beyond mining, which could include fuel fabrication, new nuclear deployment and waste management. The day wrapped up with a keynote address from Cameco President and Chief Operating Officer Grant Isaac, who noted that following two days of rich dialogue discussing foundations for the future of nuclear in Western Canada, it is time for action.

Cameco is proud to be the presenting sponsor of the inaugural #CNAWest conference, which kicked off in Saskatoon Tuesday. Cameco CEO Tim Gitzel brought welcome remarks to the sold-out crowd of 500 attendees before introducing Premier Scott Moe. While this is the first time the Canadian Nuclear Association has held a conference in Western Canada, Tim shared with the crowd that Saskatchewan - home to the world's highest-grade uranium - has been essential to global nuclear fuel supply for decades and will continue to be for years to come. #ItStartsHere

Exploring potential career paths is an important step in helping to build successful futures. Recently, Cameco’s McArthur River Operation welcomed seven students and their teacher from English River First Nation to learn more about the wide range of careers available in the mining industry. The visit included a rare opportunity to go underground to experience what it’s like to work in a uranium mine. At Cameco, we take pride in protecting the environment, prioritizing the safety of our people, and helping inspire the next generation of talent and showcase the rewarding careers available.
