From 2000 to 2014, Cameco participated in the generation of nuclear electricity through a 31.6% share of the four Bruce B reactors, which produce about 15% of Ontario's electricity needs.

In early 2014, Cameco announced the sale of its 31.6% interest in the Bruce Power L.P. to BPC Generation Infrastructure Trust, closing out its direct role in the generation of electricity.

One ton of natural uranium can produce more than 40 million kilowatt-hours of electricity. This is equivalent to burning 16,000 tons of coal or 80,000 barrels of oil.
