Cameco is proud to be the presenting sponsor of the inaugural #CNAWest conference, which kicked off in Saskatoon Tuesday. Cameco CEO Tim Gitzel brought welcome remarks to the sold-out crowd of 500 attendees before introducing Premier Scott Moe. While this is the first time the Canadian Nuclear Association has held a conference in Western Canada, Tim shared with the crowd that Saskatchewan - home to the world's highest-grade uranium - has been essential to global nuclear fuel supply for decades and will continue to be for years to come.

Today, Cameco hosted the provincial government’s release of the Saskatchewan First Energy Security Strategy and Supply Plan. Cameco CEO Tim Gitzel joined Crown Investments Corporation Minister Jeremy Harrison, Saskatchewan First Nations Natural Resource Centre of Excellence President and CEO Sheldon Wuttunee, and CIC President and CEO Kent Campbell in celebrating the plan’s release.

Exploring potential career paths is an important step in helping to build successful futures. Recently, Cameco’s McArthur River Operation welcomed seven students and their teacher from English River First Nation to learn more about the wide range of careers available in the mining industry. The visit included a rare opportunity to go underground to experience what it’s like to work in a uranium mine. On the eve of #CNAWEST, Cameco was delighted to host the Canadian Premier of the documentary THE NUCLEAR FRONTIER earlier this evening. With special guest, Jonathan Webb, co-founder and CEO of The Nuclear Company introducing the film, Tim Gitzel, Cameco’s CEO and Mark Nelson, chief of staff at The Nuclear Company closed the evening with a discussion about the urgent need to increase nuclear capacity. The Saskatchewan Roughriders are hosting their annual Pink Game on Oct. 25, celebrating the Cameco Riders Touchdown for Dreams program, which makes dreams come true for women living with a life-threatening cancer diagnosis. Pink toques will be available for purchase for $20 from volunteers at the game, with proceeds supporting the program. #TD4D Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan
