At Cameco, we believe in making a difference in the communities where we operate.  

That's why we target one percent of Cameco's after-tax net earnings for community initiatives and projects that fall within at least one of our four focus areas:

  • youth
  • education and literacy
  • health and wellness
  • community development

Eligibility Guidelines

Each year Cameco receives a substantial number of worthy requests for funding. The community investment department carefully reviews all submissions, keeping in mind guidelines for community investment. Cameco sets a priority on providing support to organizations in the communities where the company has operations or an employee base, focusing on the areas of youth, education and literacy, health and wellness and community development.

In general, Cameco follows a "three-year on, two-year off" guideline that promotes a more equitable distribution of funds throughout communities. Under this guideline, groups may receive funding for up to three consecutive years and then are not eligible to re-apply for two years. Year-to-year funding is not guaranteed under this guideline, as groups must apply annually for consideration.

Donations and sponsorships are not normally provided to:

  • Organizations which do not qualify for non-profit status
  • Conferences
  • Retire deficits or fund operating expenses
  • Loans, lotteries or cash prizes
  • Fraternal or religious organizations
  • Individuals, teams or travel
  • Annual operating campaigns
  • Form letter appeals

How to apply

Step 1 – Review the eligibility guidelines. Please note that if your request falls outside of the guidelines it is unlikely that it will be approved.

Step 2 – Click apply online to begin the simple-to-use online application form.

Step 3 – After the online application has been submitted, you will receive an email acknowledging receipt of the request. The application will be reviewed and we will provide an update within 15 business days of the submission date.

Due to the volume of requests we receive, email is the best way for us to notify you as to the status of your request.
