Our Supply Chain

In 2015, Cameco procured over $850 million in products and services from vendors across our operations.

Cameco currently has three tiers of vendors, with 55% of our total corporate spend coming from our tier-one strategic vendors. These vendors are managed through regular one-on-one performance review meetings where we use two-way scorecards to assess not only their performance, but our own. Performance topics include health and safety, environmental performance, and local hiring.

At all our operations, we emphasize the use of local suppliers first. In northern Saskatchewan, our northern preferred supplier program has resulted in the procurement of over $3 billion in services from northern and aboriginal vendors since 2004, representing 73% of our service spend.

In terms of the services and products we procure, nearly 60% of our total is spent on the following:

• mining and construction contractors, with particular focus on northern suppliers
• aviation
• freight transportation
• lodging services
• propane
• diesel (underground and surface)
• zircaloy
• HF
• lime
• cement and shotcrete
