One of Cameco's key measures of success is supportive communities. We strive to give residents a clear idea of what's happening at our facility and to answer public questions through a range of activities including:
- this website
- our community liaison forums
- plant visits
- participation in local events such as the Port Hope fair
We are proud to be active and responsible members of the community. After all, this is where we live, work and play. As a major employer and a high-profile business, we have an important role to play in supporting organizations and community events that contribute to the high quality of life we enjoy in Northumberland County.
As part of our commitment to providing information about our operations to interested parties, Cameco has developed a formal protocol for public information and disclosure for all of its Ontario operations. This protocol meets the requirements set out by the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission in RG/GD-99.3, Public Information and Disclosure.
We conduct public opinion research in Port Hope each year to assess the effectiveness of our public information program. The results consistently show a high level of trust and support among Port Hope residents.
