Economic Benefits of Cameco's US Operations

An analysis was conducted for Cameco by the University of Wyoming Department of Agriculture and Applied Economics in 2010. The analysis examined the direct payments by Cameco in payroll, local purchases, taxes, royalties and other forms. It also incorporated indirect benefits, as the dollars from Cameco activity circulated through the economy and supported other jobs and industries.

  • Every 5 drums of yellowcake produced means a job in Wyoming.

Current total annual economic benefit to Wyoming, direct and indirect:

  • $59.1 million in payrolls, purchases, taxes, royalties, etc.

Expected total annual economic benefit, with addition of three planned expansion sites:

  • 844 jobs
  • $112.1 million in payrolls, purchases, taxes, royalties, etc.
