Cameco creates opportunity for bright young people in the communities where we operate through an extensive scholarship program. The program offers more than $400,000 in direct support for students each year.
Northern Scholarship Program
Offers scholarships up to $7,500 for northern Saskatchewan students entering a university degree program and up to $5,000 for students entering trades or technical training at a recognized technical institute. Scholarships up to a total of $50,000 are awarded under this program each year. All students who have lived in Saskatchewan's north for at least five years immediately prior to application are eligible. Academic performance, residency and career interest are considered in the selection process. Applicants who wish to pursue a career in the mining industry are favoured.

Cameco Commerce Scholarship
Covers the tuition fees for students in the final year of a bachelor of commerce program at the University of Saskatchewan. Students majoring in accounting or finance entering their third year who have achieved a two-year average of 75% or greater are eligible.

Deep River Science Academy Scholarship
Each year, Cameco offers an opportunity for a high school student to attend the Deep River Science Academy during the summer. Dependent children of Cameco employees (Ontario only) are eligible for this six-week opportunity that gives a high school student a chance to test drive a career in sciences at a leading laboratory while earning academic credits. Applicants must be at least 15 years of age and will be selected by Deep River staff based on academic achievement. The recipient will attend the Deep River campus located 200 km northwest of Ottawa. The scholarship covers tuition and living expenses only.
The Deep River Science Academy is a private not-for-profit organization founded in 1986. Its mission is to encourage talented high school students to pursue careers in science and engineering.

Manitoba Science Academy Scholarship
Former Deep River Science Academy Whiteshell Campus (Manitoba) Scholarship
Cameco is offering an opportunity for a high school student to attend the Manitoba Science Academy during the summer. Dependent children of Cameco employees (Western Canada only) are eligible for this six-week opportunity that gives a high school student a chance to test drive a career in sciences at a leading laboratory while earning academic credits. Applicants must be at least 15 years of age and will be selected by the Manitoba Science Academy staff based on academic achievement. The recipient will attend the Manitoba Science Academy located 100 km northeast of Winnipeg. The scholarship covers tuition and living expenses only.
The Manitoba Science Academy is an independent, non-profit organization registered with the Province of Manitoba, and operated by a volunteer board of directors. Its mission is to provide youth with an educational environment, focused on practical research that fosters an interest in post-secondary science and engineering disciplines.

Cameco Corporation Scholarships in the Geological Sciences
Covers the costs for one year of study, which includes tuition, student fees and books, for full-time students who are Canadian citizens studying geological sciences at the University of Saskatchewan. Two scholarships are available for students entering their first year of study and two scholarships are available for students entering their second year of study. Recipients of the continuing awards may also be offered summer employment at Cameco after their second and third years of study with time off to attend any field camps required for their degrees.
Students are advised to consult with the Department of Geological Sciences at the University of Saskatchewan for further information and course requirements.

Bernard Michel Scholarship
Provides up to $20,000 in financial support for a Saskatchewan aboriginal student entering their first or second year of study within the Colleges of Engineering, Commerce, or Arts & Science (majoring in Geology) at the University of Saskatchewan. The scholarship includes an opportunity for summer employment with Cameco, working alongside a professional mentor, and a two-year employment contract upon graduation.
Applications available in 2009. Scholarship is awarded every two years.

Cameco Employee Dependent Scholarship
Dependent children of Cameco employees who achieve superior academic performance are eligible for a $3,000 (Canadian) scholarship. Recipients are limited to a maximum of four annual awards; additional eligibilty requirements are described in the attached application form.
