At Cameco, protection of the environment is one of the foundations of our work. All of us share in the responsibility of continually improving the quality of our environment. We are committed to integrating environmental leadership into everything that we do. Any activity or project that could impact the environment is subject to a thorough environmental assessment.

Through this process, we study the environment around the project area to gain an understanding of potential effects on air and water quality, wildlife, plants, noise, human health, aboriginal activities, and the use of land and natural resources.

We also engage the public to listen to and address concerns that people may have regarding the project.

In accordance to the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission oversees the environmental assessments undertaken by Cameco to ensure that the environment and people are protected.
