Cameco creates opportunity for bright young people in the communities where we operate through an extensive scholarship program. The program offers more than $300,000 per annum in direct support for students each year.
Northern Scholarship Program
Offers scholarships up to $7,500 for northern Saskatchewan students entering a university degree program and up to $5,000 for students entering trades or technical training at a recognized technical institute. Scholarships up to a total of $100,000 per annum are awarded under this program each year. All students who have lived in Saskatchewan's north for at least five years immediately prior to application are eligible. Academic performance, residency and career interest are considered in the selection process. Applicants who wish to pursue a career in the mining industry are favoured.

Cameco Commerce Scholarship
Covers the tuition fees for an Aboriginal student pursing a bachelor of commerce program at the University of Saskatchewan. Students majoring in Accounting, Finance, Human Resource Management, Management, Marketing or Operations Management entering their third year who have achieved a two-year average of 75% or greater are eligible.

Cameco Corporation Scholarships in the Geological Sciences
Covers the costs for one year of study, which includes tuition, student fees and books, for full-time students who are Canadian citizens studying geological sciences at the University of Saskatchewan. Two scholarships are available for students entering their first year of study and two scholarships are available for students entering their second year of study. Recipients of the continuing awards may also be offered summer employment at Cameco after their second and third years of study with time off to attend any field camps required for their degrees.
Students are advised to consult with the Department of Geological Sciences at the University of Saskatchewan for further information and course requirements.

Bernard Michel Scholarship
Provides over $50,000 worth of support for a Saskatchewan Aboriginal student entering their first year of study within the College of Engineering or College of Arts & Science. Arts and Science students, to be eligible, must be pursuing the following degrees:
- B.Sc. Geology
- B.Sc. Toxicology
- B.Sc. Chemistry
- B.A. Geography in Land Use & Environmental Studies
The total award value includes four, $5,000 scholarships each renewable based on maintaining academic standing as defined by the University of Saskatchewan and an opportunity for up to three summer work terms at Cameco's Saskatchewan operations.
This scholarship is awarded on a bi-annual basis.

Cameco Employees' Dependent Children Scholarship
Dependent children of Cameco employees who achieve superior academic performance at both a secondary and post-secondary level are eligible for a scholarship of up to $2,500 (Canadian). Award values will vary depending on institution of study. Recipients are limited to a maximum of four annual Cameco awards.

Cameco Corporation Geological Technician Scholarship
Available to one first-year student and one second-year student enrolled in the Geological Technology Program at NAIT. Awarded on the basis of academic achievement and an essay submission. The essay must detail the student's interest in the mining industry, in particular the mineral sector, as well as future employment plans. Preference will be given to residents of Saskatchewan.

Cameco Corporation Scholarship in Engineering
To recognize academic achievement of undergraduate students pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree with an interest in metallurgy and mineral processing in the mining industry.
Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Engineering and be entering third year of study. Two annual awards of $5,000 each, renewable once students successful register for fourth year of study for a total potential award of $10,000.
Candidates must be specializing in one of the following disciplines:
- Chemical Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
Preference will be given to Chemical Engineering students. Candidates must submit a letter outlining their interest in the mining industry, including any previous work experience.

Cameco Mining and Mineral Process Engineering Scholarship
Cameco Corporation is committed to increasing opportunities in the mining, mineral process and nuclear energy industry. In order to promote employment growth in the identified industries, Cameco offers a scholarship to encourage pursuit of select engineering disciplines.
In 2010, Cameco is committing $30,000 in total scholarships to mining and mineral process engineering students. The funding breakdowns are as follows:
Three, $5,000 USD scholarships will be awarded to 2nd year Mining and Mineral Process Engineering students at select North American post-secondary institutions.
Three $5,000 USD scholarships (the renewable portion of the financial award) could be awarded to three previous recipients in their 3rd year of studies. It is important to note that previous receipt of a Cameco scholarship does not guarantee automatic renewal of an award; students must still meet all identified scholarship criteria.

The Russell W. Thompkins Memorial Award in Mining Engineering (funding partner)
Established in memory of Russell W. Thompkins, distinguished and admired Emeritus Professor and former Chairman of the Department of Mining Engineering, in recognition of the valued contribution he made to the safety of the uranium mining industry. Awarded on the basis of financial need and overall academic accomplishment to a student in the fourth year of a Mining Engineering program. Preference will be given to students who have made a positive contribution to the Mining Engineering Department and to the University through extracurricular activities.
Cameco provides funding to support one scholar per academic year.
