Cameco and Zircatec supported the community's Canada Day festivities. |
July 1, 2006 – Thousands of area residents and visitors thronged the streets of downtown Port Hope on July 1 to watch the annual Canada Day parade and listen to four bands at Memorial Park. The local celebrations were capped off with a spectacular fireworks display produced by the Port Hope Kinsmen Club. The Kinsmen deserve all of our thanks for putting together an outstanding series of Canada Day events in our community.
Cameco and Zircatec Precision Industries were represented in the Canada Day parade, with employees and their families proudly joining with other participants and spectators in waving the Canadian flag. Both groups distributed Canadian flags, maple leaf tattoos and lapel pins, Cameco tattoos and candy to those watching the parade along Ridout, Walton and Queen streets.

Cameco's firetruck added a splash of colour to Port Hope's Canada Day parade. |
Along with the other sponsors of the Port Hope Canada Day celebrations, Cameco helped to ensure that activities such as children’s day at Memorial Park were provided free of charge. Several hundred of Port Hope’s youngest residents enjoyed amusements such as a bounce house, a tunnel maze, several slides and a mini-putt.
Cameco is pleased to provide financial and other forms of support to local organizations and community events that help contribute to the high quality of life we enjoy in Northumberland County.
