We live here too!
West Northumberland Home
Cameco employees Doug Prendergast and Dr. Mike Murchie were among those available to speak to local residents at the West Northumberland Home and Trade Show in April.

Cameco Port Hope and its employees are proud to be active and responsible members of the community. After all, this is where we live, work and play. We want to give back to our community.

We recognize that as a major employer and a high-profile business, we have an important role to play in supporting organizations and community events that contribute to the high quality of life we enjoy in Northumberland.

With that in mind, we will continue to strengthen our relationship with the community as well as continue with our plan for the future, a project called Cameco Vision 2010: Connecting with Port Hope’s Future, an initiative to clean up, modernize and beautify the Port Hope conversion facility.

Each year, Cameco and its employees are involved in dozens of events in the community. Our activities include:
  • Display booths at local events including trade shows and the Port Hope Fall Fair
  • Participating in job fairs and hosting symposiums
  • Conducting plant tours throughout the year
  • Conducting science demonstrations at local schools
  • Participating in the annual United Way employee campaign and Day of Caring
  • Sponsoring and participating in community events including the Canada Day Parade, Christmas parade, toy drives, various fundraising events and golf tournaments, blood donor clinics, Earth Day celebrations, Relay for Life, Take Your Kids to Work Day and many more.
