Socio-Economic Impact

Cameco is committed to increasing benefits to northern residents from its mining operations. The company's hiring practices include giving preference to residents of northern Saskatchewan.

Cameco has a policy of purchasing goods and services from Saskatchewan, and in particular from northern Saskatchewan business, to the greatest extent possible.

Rabbit Lake Employment

There are over 320 Cameco employees at Rabbit Lake, with half of those being residents of northern Saskatchewan.

At any given time, there can be several hundred permanent and non-permanent contract employees engaged in mine and general site development as well as projects related to rejuvenation of the mill. Cameco works with contractors to ensure the majority of their employees are also residents of northern Saskatchewan.

Work Schedule and Commuting

Rabbit Lake's mine and mill operations run 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Employees work 11 hours per day on a seven-day-in/seven-day-out schedule.
