U of S Huskies to host Cameco Chill Out 2001

A long-standing hockey tradition is returning to Saskatoon this December. The Cameco Chill Out – University men's hockey tournament will be contested on December 28th and 29th at Saskatchewan Place. Four top-university teams – including the University of Saskatchewan Huskies - will compete in an "East-West Challenge" for the Chill Out Trophy.
This year's edition of the Cameco Chill Out returns after a four-year hiatus. The tournament – which started in 1992 – has provided some great hockey over the years, but was put on hold during the years when Saskatoon and the U of S Huskies hosted the University Cup national CIAU hockey championships.
Tournament Chairman – Kent Hartshorn says plans for the revival of Cameco Chill Out are well underway. " We have four great university teams confirmed for the tournament and Saskatoon hockey fans should be treated to some great hockey right after Christmas."
Teams attending include the University of Toronto Varsity Blues and the York University Yeomen representing the East. Also competing will be the UBC Thunderbirds and our own University of Saskatchewan Huskies representing the West! "We believe the ‘east/west' rivalry will add to the competitiveness of the tournament, with nationally ranked York University and our Huskies leading the way into battle" added Hartshorn.
Hartshorn also unveiled some ambitious plans to expand the Chill Out format. " As part of Cameco Chill Out, our committee will add a six-team Bantam ‘AA' tournament to the format" stated Hartshorn. "Along with displaying some great college hockey talent, we're looking to create a first-class Bantam tournament, with the hope of someday growing it to become a major event for this community."
Cameco Corporation was introduced as the title sponsor for the Chill Out tournament. Huskie Athletics Marketing Co-ordinator, Warren Proctor explained "Sporting events of this magnitude would not be possible without the generous support of the business community. Cameco Corporation has been a long-time supporter of Huskie Athletics and we're extremely pleased to have them lead the way with the revival of the Cameco Chill Out hockey tournament".
The draw for Cameco Chill Out has games being played in the afternoon and evening on December 28th and 29th, with the U of S Huskies taking on the Toronto Varsity Blues at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 28th . The Huskies will then do battle with #7 ranked York Yeomen at 7:30:pm. on Dec. 29th. All games will be at Saskatchewan Place. Tickets are now on-sale at the Sask Place box office or any Select-a-Seat outlet.
