Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada, June 29, 2001
Cameco Corporation today announced that it has entered into a dealer agreement with RBC Dominion Securities Inc. to offer, on a best efforts basis, $50 million of 7.0 % debentures, Series B, due July 6, 2006. The debentures are being sold in the provinces of British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario according to a prospectus supplement dated today, issued under a June 21, 1999 debt shelf prospectus.
Cameco will use the net proceeds of this offering to repay short-term debt as it matures and therefore, this offering does not represent additional indebtedness.
The debentures have received a rating of A (low) by Dominion Bond Rating Service Limited, A- by Standard & Poor's Rating Service and A3 by Moody's Investors Service, Inc. The offering is expected to close on July 6, 2001.
The debentures have not been and will not be registered under the US Securities Act of 1933, as amended, and may not be offered or sold in the United States to any person absent registration or an applicable exemption from registration requirements. This news release shall not constitute an offer to sell or the solicitation of an offer to buy the debentures in the United States.
