Agenda of Meeting Between International Commission and Minister of Health

June 9, 1998

  1. QUALITY OF AIR, SOIL AND WATER
    Air is clean - data will follow
    Water is clean - supporting data to follow
    Soil concentrations are below international guidelines and improving daily

  2. VEGETABLES
    WHO has indicated some concerns
    Other scientific opinions are that this may not be correct
    To clarify this issue a monitoring program with controls will be implemented within the next few days

  3. PLANT DAMAGE
    Number of villagers have brought forward causes of plant damage
    This does not appear to be related to cyanide exposure
    A local plant pathologist will be contacted and sent to the villages to investigate and explain any causes for visible plant damage

  4. FISH
    To validate our opinion that there is no further risk of cyanide contamination, we shall purchase and analyze fish from commercial fishermen on the lakes
    Relevant international data will be supplied

  5. MILK ISSUE
    Milk will be analyzed for cyanide

  6. LAKES
    With calculations and modelling we shall prove that cyanide levels will be insignificant

  7. CARCINOGENIC, MUTAGENIC, TERATOGENIC, REPRODUCTIVE
    International relevant data to clarify our position will be provided

  8. INTERNATIONAL GUIDELINES AND STANDARDS
    All relevant guidelines and criteria for cyanide levels will be summarized and presented

  9. MEDICAL ISSUES
    These will be addressed by a panel of International and National expert
