The results of the 2011 community poll indicate that Cameco continues to have a firm foundation of public support among the majority of Port Hope residents; 87% of residents are supportive of Cameco continuing to operate in Port Hope and the majority are strongly supportive.

The Welcome Waste Management Facility is a closed waste site, located approximately three kilometres northwest of downtown Port Hope. It received wastes from Eldorado Mines' Port Hope Refinery between 1948 and 1955. Cameco owned and operated the site from 1988 to 2010.

Cameco Corporation (TSX: CCO; NYSE: CCJ) announced that unionized employees at Cameco Fuel Manufacturing Inc. (CFM) began a legal strike today after the company and members of United Steelworkers Local 14193 were unable to reach a new collective agreement. The last contract between the company and the 137 unionized employees at CFM's plants in Port Hope and Cobourg expired on June 1, 2009.

Cameco has signed a new contract with its historic supplier of hydrofluoric acid (HF) under terms that are mutually beneficial to both parties. HF is a primary feed material for the production of UF6.

Cameco is pleased to announce that the environmental assessment (EA) process for the Vision 2010 project is now underway. The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC), the federal authority responsible for the regulation of nuclear facilities in Canada, issued draft EA guidelines on March 5, 2008. The draft guidelines document describes the basis for the conduct of the EA, and focuses the assessment on relevant issues and concerns.

Cameco Corporation has received regulatory approval to begin repairing and upgrading the Port Hope uranium hexafluoride (UF6) conversion plant following the discovery of soil contamination beneath the facility. While UF6 plant operations have been suspended since the discovery in July 2007, uranium dioxide conversion and other activities at the site have not been affected.
