ATHABASCA BASIN
Cameco is operator of the Read Lake uranium exploration joint venture, located immediately adjacent to the McArthur River deposit with numerous conductors parallel to the P2 trend that hosts the McArthur River deposit.
Exploration Objectives:
- Test well-established and highly favourable conductors within the property.
- Discover a significant unconformity-type uranium deposit.
Project History:
| 2009 | Promising C10 conductor shows potential of hosting a significant deposit and will be focus of 2009 exploration. |
| 2008 | A total of eight holes were drilled along C10 conductor with significant mineralization found 90 to 150 metres above unconformity |
| 2007 | Significant uranium mineralization intersected in hole within C10 conductor in Fox Lake area |
| 2002-2006 | Drilling of southwestern extension of P2 trend plus detailed geophysical surveys of Fox Lake area, located on same conductor trend as the Millennium deposit |
| 1997-2001 | Cameco takes over as operator and tests conductors to north and west of McArthur River deposit. |
| 1992-1996 | Project is dormant. |
| 1985-1991 | Operated by UEM with focus on conductors adjacent to and parallel to McArthur River P2 trend. |
| 1977-1984 | Kerr Addison Mines Ltd., original operator, does geochemical and geophysical surveys to define many conductors and radioactive boulder trains. |
