Cameco owns Canada's only uranium conversion facility in Port Hope, ON, which employs over 400 people. This is where the uranium trioxide (UO₃) that comes from Cameco's refinery in Blind River is changed into two products - uranium hexafluoride (UF₆); the fuel used in light water nuclear reactors and uranium dioxide (UO₂), which fuels heavy water CANDU reactors.

Susan specifies and selects devices for industrial measurement and control including PLC's (programmable logic controllers), analyzers, transmitters and valves. She ensures instrumentation installations meet regulatory requirements, Cameco standards and the design change control process. Susan is also involved in providing support to Cameco electricians and instrument technicians, site contractors and acts as a subject matter expert in instrumentation, electrical safety and arc flash hazards.
