Cameco is the leading industrial employer of Aboriginal Canadians, bringing both employment and economic activity to northern Saskatchewan communities. We have a mandate, wherever we operate, to engage local communities early and often, throughout the development stages and beyond. This helps us build the proper framework to ensure our neighbours share the economic benefits of our activities.
This corporate social responsibility (CSR) model is proving useful as the company expands around the globe. In Western Australia, where prefeasibility work is underway at our Kintyre deposit, we are consulting with the Martu traditional land owners to create employment and economic development opportunities that will benefit the region for years to come.
As director, corporate social responsibility, Sean plays a key role in upholding our reputation as a leader in CSR. He was born, lived and has worked the majority of his life in Northern Canada, an asset considering his regular interactions in the North. His work covers a wide variety of activities. He offers his input on potential acquisitions, exploration activities, government and regulatory relations, and around the globe he negotiates community-resource agreements. He oversees five managers, who work together to ensure all CSR strategies align with the company's objectives.
