MEET OUR PEOPLE

We're valued for our experience

One great thing about Cameco is they see CSR as such an added benefit to the company. We're valued for our experience and we're valued for our input.

Within my department we have a plethora of backgrounds, from legal counsel to people with a master's in education, local community leaders, past chiefs and those with a business background. At the table we have a very robust conversation, and because so many of us are northerners, we're a lot of fun as well.

When you see good news stories, people at our sites who have been there for 20, 25 years and now their children are going to university... That's by far the best thing about my job.

POSITION PROFILE

Cameco is the leading industrial employer of Aboriginal Canadians, bringing both employment and economic activity to northern Saskatchewan communities. We have a mandate, wherever we operate, to engage local communities early and often, throughout the development stages and beyond. This helps us build the proper framework to ensure our neighbours share the economic benefits of our activities.

This corporate social responsibility (CSR) model is proving useful as the company expands around the globe. In Western Australia, where prefeasibility work is underway at our Kintyre deposit, we are consulting with the Martu traditional land owners to create employment and economic development opportunities that will benefit the region for years to come.

As director, corporate social responsibility, Sean plays a key role in upholding our reputation as a leader in CSR. He was born, lived and has worked the majority of his life in Northern Canada, an asset considering his regular interactions in the North. His work covers a wide variety of activities. He offers his input on potential acquisitions, exploration activities, government and regulatory relations, and around the globe he negotiates community-resource agreements. He oversees five managers, who work together to ensure all CSR strategies align with the company's objectives.
