CAMPUS OUTREACH

Geologists in Training

Junior geologists starting their careers with Cameco in a geologist in training (GIT) designated position, will automatically join Cameco's GIT program. The program offers on-the-job experience that will help the new geologist develop technical job skills and knowledge of Cameco's uranium exploration and resource evaluation processes.

GITs will be placed at three work locations and during each rotation the employee will be a full member of the geological team. Rotations could include work placements in the exploration department, at Saskatchewan mine operations and in the corporate mineral resources management group. At the end of the 30 month program, the employee will be placed permanently at one of the locations.

GIT participants are assigned a professional mentor to provide valuable personal and professional advice.

The GIT program complements the Saskatchewan geologist certification requirements, so employees can obtain Professional Geoscientist (P. Geo.) certification within a few years of successfully completing the program.
